Little Fin is nestled in the Financial District, putting it in a perfect location for the weekday lunch crowd. Their storefront was pretty empty around 6PM on a Friday; this worked for us as we prefer a quieter atmosphere and it's always great to get our food faster!
Ahi Tuna Sandwich ($13)
Marinated in scallion, ginger, thai basil & sesame
Stanley went for the Ahi Tuna sandwich with a side of potato wedges and seaweed salad. The sandwich was piled high with tuna that had been gently seared on each side. The fish had not been cooked through and was very tender. Overall, this sandwich tasted really good and we both enjoyed it.
For those who don't mind a slightly fishier aroma, the spinach and seaweed salad on the side was also quite the tasty accompaniment. Stanley preferred it over the coleslaw in the following dish...
Haddock & Chips Platter ($14)
Of course we also had to get an order of the haddock & chips to satisfy my craving for some deep fried fish. This was also available in sandwich form for $9 but we decided that we didn't need the extra bread. However, we thought the price differential between the Crispy Haddock Sandwich ($9) and the Haddock & Chips Platter ($14) was a bit odd as the portion of the platter did not seem more substantial than the sandwich.
The serving of potato wedges was a bit on the small side- but they were nothing special so the smaller serving suited us just fine. The fish was also somewhat disappointing as it was on the dry side and did not have much taste/flavour. All I can say is- if I ever get a craving for fish and chips.. I will probably go to Buster's Sea Cove instead.
Overall, we did enjoy the Ahi Tuna Sandwich and may venture back in the future for their sandwich offerings. As I've heard many positive things about Little Fin, I have to wonder if they were just having an off-day with the fish and chips.
