The storefront is located inside the New Kennedy Square plaza food court and it is visibly more modern than the other shops there. We actually missed the storefront initially and wandered around the mall before finally spotting the store right where we entered the mall. The rest of the plaza looks more or less the same as we remember from our childhood, missing a jungle gym and perhaps a little more run down than before. Naturally, there have been many changes to the owners and products sold over the years.
Despite dinner only being an hour or two away, we decided to order one wooffle each (yes, two wooffles!). We didn't get a chance to chat with the owners as they looked quite busy that day. However, they were very nice and told us that the wait time for our wooffles would be 10-15 minutes.
Lap Cheong & Seaweed Waffle with Vanilla Soft Serve ($4.5 for the waffle + $3.5 for the soft-serve)
This is a very interesting albeit tasty combo and really changes the way you think about egg waffles. I had never thought egg waffles could be savoury prior to this experience- but this was delicious! The bites with the Chinese sausage in it were extra tasty and flavourful. The soft serve was very creamy and went well with the waffle- but let's be honest here, soft serve works with almost everything. Stan actually ordered this with the matcha & vanilla swirl soft serve but they gave us the vanilla soft serve on the wooffle by accident. It wasn't a problem though as they quickly gave us a small cup of the matcha & vanilla soft serve on the side to try!
Coconut 'N Brownie Bites with Vanilla Soft Serve ($4.5 for the waffle + $3.5 for the soft-serve)
This egg waffle was very different from the savoury one but still very delicious. This waffle was slightly crispier than the other- which I liked, and it also was not overly sweet! The bits of brownie were very fudge-y and definitely overpowered the coconut flavour as I did not taste it at all. Again, vanilla soft serve + brownie = delicious.
